Prism Cope documentation
Everything the glass does with a loss, gently and in order: how it bends, where each colour goes, why the violet ray is so thin, and what the session note says about you. Kindly.
Overview
Prism Cope takes one loss and passes it through a glass prism. On the other side it comes out as six excuses, one per colour, each carrying a share of the blame. The shares always add up to the whole loss. Your own share is always the smallest.
Nothing is refunded and nothing is signed. The glass only changes how the loss is distributed between causes, which is the part that keeps people up at night.
Quickstart
- Type the lossAny amount in USD, or one of the presets: $40, $412, $5,000 or $80,000.
- Read the spectrumSix cards appear next to the glass, one excuse each, with the share and the amount.
- Refract againIf an excuse does not feel right, press the button. Each colour has four more.
- Read the noteThe session note below sums it up in the calm voice of someone who is paid by the hour.
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Loss | The white beam. One number, heavy, entering the glass from the left. |
| Colour | A category of cause: the market, macro, the dev, timing, the future, or you. |
| Excuse | One line in a colour, picked at random from five. |
| Share | The part of the loss a colour carries. All six add up to 100%. |
| Violet ray | Your own share. Always present, always 0.4%, always at the bottom. |
| Session | One refraction, with its note. |
The six colours
Colours are ordered by how far they bend. Red bends least, travels furthest from you and carries the most blame. Violet bends the most and stays right next to the glass.
| Colour | Cause | Base share | A typical excuse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red | The market | 34% | Market makers hunted my stop |
| Orange | Macro | 22% | The Fed said something |
| Yellow | The dev | 18% | The dev went quiet |
| Green | Timing | 13% | Right thesis, wrong week |
| Blue | The future | 12.6% | It is still early |
| Violet | You | 0.4% | Me, a little |
The violet ray
Violet is drawn at a hair’s width on purpose. It is never hidden, never zero and never larger than 0.4%. It is the line people point to when they say they took responsibility.
Refract again
Each press moves every colour to a different excuse from its five and redraws the shares. The glass also spins a little, which helps. The total never changes. Neither does the violet share.
Session notes
Every refraction writes a short note in the style of a therapist’s pad: the loss, the main cause in quotes, the supporting causes, your own contribution in a separate line, and an outlook taken from the blue colour.
session noteSession 3 · 26 Oct
Patient reports a loss of $412. Patient is calm and has
already prepared an explanation.
Primary cause identified as the market: “a whale sold the
minute i bought”. Supporting causes include macro, the dev
and timing.
Patient’s own contribution measured at $1.65. Patient did
not ask to see this line.
Outlook: “zoom out”. Recommended next step: hold.
— the glass
Tone of voice
- Calm, never alarmed. A loss is “reported”, not “suffered”.
- The patient is always “prepared”, never “in denial”.
- The violet line comes last and is not explained.
The 3D prism
The prism is rendered live in your browser with WebGL. The faces are see-through, so the bench grid behind them stays visible; the edges catch a spectral tint at grazing angles, and a soft glint moves across the faces as the glass turns.
The white beam enters the left face and leaves the right one as six rays, each ending exactly at its card. Ray width follows the share, which is why violet is almost invisible.
Turning it
Drag the glass left or right to turn it, up or down to tilt it. Let go and it drifts back to its resting angle. Turning the prism does not change the shares. It is there for the same reason a stress ball is there.

| Param | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| loss | number | Loss in USD, positive. The minus sign is implied and painful. |
| seed | integer | Optional. The same seed returns the same excuses, for consistency at family dinners. |
Errors
| Code | Type | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 400 | no_loss | The loss is zero. Congratulations. Please come back later. |
| 402 | refund_requested | The glass does not refund. It only redistributes blame. |
| 409 | violet_too_wide | Someone tried to set your share above 0.4%. Request declined. |
| 422 | gain_detected | The number is positive. Try Prism Gains. |
The token
$COPE is the Prism Cope token on Solana. It does not offset losses and is not part of any excuse. Holding it changes one thing, below.
A thinner violet
Wallets holding $COPE see their own share drop from 0.4% to 0.1%. The loss stays exactly the same size, and the other colours absorb the difference without complaint.
Constants
| Name | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| COLOURS | 6 | Five outside causes and you. |
| EXCUSES_PER_COLOUR | 5 | 30 in total. |
| SHARE_YOU | 0.4% | Fixed. 0.1% for $COPE holders. |
| SHARE_JITTER | ±18% | Applied to each outside base share. |
| BASE_MARKET | 34% | Red. |
| BASE_MACRO | 22% | Orange. |
| BASE_DEV | 18% | Yellow. |
| BASE_TIMING | 13% | Green. |
| BASE_FUTURE | 12.6% | Blue. |

Risks
- You read the violet card. It is short, and it stays with you.
- You refract the same loss twenty times. The excuses repeat. The loss does too.
- Someone else reads your session note. It is very kind, and very clear.
- The market recovers. Then you will need Prism Gains instead.
